My Favorite Summer Outfit
So this outfit has been on repeat all summer long. It's casual, fun, comfortable, and both work and mom appropriate! I've had this little white crop top for two years already (WHAT?! Time flies!!) and it's been a really classic staple, worn with high wasited pleated skirts, bold printed pants, and layered under and over so many things. The pants however, are new and quite a statement for me. But I've been LOVING them! They're a linen/cotton blend making them the perfect pant for muggy summer days in Seattle and a really easy wash when I'm covered in baby drool and snacks.
Each piece of this outfit is versatile yet has a fun little detail making them far from boring basics. And they're all part of my current capsule wardrobe. Go check the rest of it out here -> Sydney's Capsule.
If you're looking to get started on your own capsule, I recommend beginning by picking out some of your very favorite outfits and building your collection from there. Grab the pieces that you LOVE wearing and that you wear most often. Then determine why you love them so much; really get to know your clothes, shoes, and accessories... consider when you bought them, why, and how often you wear them. This was the turning point for me when starting my capsule life and it made letting go of those pieces I liked, but never wore, a lot easier!
As the weather shifts and our late summer begins to turn to fall, I can continue wearing my favorite outfit by layering a chic sweater over top. I'm a fan of pullover style sweaters because they're just as easy as an open cardigan, but can completely change up your look. I'm really loving the sweet shoulder ruffle on this Banana Republic sweater I picked up at my local Goodwill not too long ago.
